Intro to Astro Photography

Intro to Astro Photography

Sunday 22 December
Elton - 7pm - 2 Hours
Peterborough Photography Group
Mark Parker
Do you gaze up at the night sky with wonder? What about looking up at the stars and thinking, how old that light you are seeing is? Maybe you watch as day and night morph into one, and the stars come out to play.

This meetup is going to cover off everything you need to know to start capturing amazing single shot astrophotography and a few extra bits of helpful advice. The learnt basics of capturing a single frame will form the building blocks of your astrophotography journey. Think of this meetup as your first step on that journey or for those who have already started, maybe a road sign.

Astrophotography looks amazing and packs a real punch, however, you do not need to spend a fortune to partake. Does gear make a difference, the simple answer is yes, but it is not the deciding factor when it comes to astrophotography. This meetup will look at planning your session, camera settings, required equipment. I want this meetup to help you maximise your current gear as your start capturing milky way shots.

A great insight into the art of street photography. Giuseppe?s passion and experience shone through giving the feeling that taking photos of everyday life is a natural thing to do. I could have spent the whole day with him.

I was fortunate to find myself the only attendee, so I got all the attention tailored to exactly what I needed! Which in my case was a very basic intro - perfect, spot on opportunity, and so good to have such "aha!" moments and have my camera demystified! Giuseppe was lovely, patient and clear. I look forward to another session once I've got some practice under my belt.

Good couple of hours getting to understand composition and what to think about when taking black and white photos. We were lucky eith the weather behaving and giving us great light, whilst street photography is not my normal go to I enjoyed being out of my comfort zone and having this new experience

Very lucky to get this shot of a juvenile kingfisher on the Norfolk broads just right time right place. This one looks like a young male although it can be hard to tell when they are so young. If you look at the feet they are brown and also the white tip to the beak are indicators of age adult kingfishers have orange feet. The way to tell female from male a female would have a redy orange part on the bottom part of its beak.

Normally visit the Windmill a few times during the year, over the last few years Sunflowers have been in the field opposite the Windmill and I like taking photos of the Sunflowers with the Windmill in the background. This particular photo I put the drone up and and took the photo just above the Windmill I was going to try and take a few more Drone photos but I was getting a warning about the wind strength so I stopped taking photos with the drone.
